Fall Is the Season of Meat

It always feel strange going from summer to autumn. In some areas of the country, the weather shift can seem awfully dramatic and throw us off our game. Some might miss the hazy days of summer, hanging out with friends and family and being outdoors. But the thing about fall is that you still can do all those activities; it just might be a little cooler so wear a sweatshirt or layers.

At Flying H Genetics we’re a big fan of the fall. It is a season of meat, as we like to put it.

Sure summer is known as the season of barbecues and that’s a reasonable assumption; c’mon, there’s Labor Day and all those graduation parties and block parties. The list goes on and on and on. Since we’re in the cattle and beef industry, we definitely feel a surge in business when it comes to the summer, but fall is also a popular time for barbecues and chances are you all know why: football. Yes, we’re talking about the distinctly American tradition of hunkering down in an asphalt parking lot outside of a stadium and grilling to your heart’s content, all while drinking a plethora of beer and throwing the old pigskin back and forth. It’s the American Dream.

In our opinion fall is definitely an American season. It feels American despite there being no fourth of July or Labor Day. It’s a season of tailgating and that means it’s a season of meat and testosterone and hopes and dreams. Does it get any more American than that?
