After extensive planning and organizing, we are finally ready to put our membership with Allied Genetic Resources to work for you – our Flying H Genetics’ bull customers.  Allied’s partnerships with over 25 major feed yards and cattle feeders will allow us to help you be as aggressive with your feeder calf marketing as you wish to be.  We will help market your calves anyway you desire: sale barn, direct marketing off the farm, or video auction.  The critical information we need to help facilitate this process is contained on the sheet accompanying this letter.  If you provide us with details about the number of calves you have to sell, when you want to sell them, and how you choose to sell them, we will pass this information on to the partnership feeders so they can attempt to buy your calves.  We need to know this information well in advance of when you are planning to market those calves.  The more information you can provide in a timely manner, the more it will help increase your ability to achieve greater premiums for your calves.    

There are other factors to keep in mind.  The feeders working with Allied are interested in your calves in a multitude of scenarios.  They will buy calves right off the cow or those that are source & age & weaned 45 days.  The key is – the more you prepare your calves, the greater premiums they will offer.  If you want to participate with source & age verification, make sure you have a premise ID.  Also, you may want to wait on buying your tags, etc. until you have an agreed upon price for your calves.  At that time, you can participate in the source & age program that is appropriate for you, once your premium is locked in.
